Have you ever tried to read a crystal guide book from cover to cover? Oh my gosh… it’s enough to make your head spin.

There’s no easy way to remember the definitions and properties for each crystal. And sometimes it would be nice not to have to run to Google or lug around a big book of stone meanings to work with crystals.

Before I learned to channel messages from crystals, I tried to go through my favorite reference book, The Book of Stones by Robert Simmons and Naisha Ahsain, and memorize all of the information in there. Even by focusing on the keywords only, I couldn’t cram it all in my head. There’s simply too many crystals to remember.

Plus there were a few pitfalls to that technique, crystal reference books simply do not contain every crystal out there. No matter how comprehensive a book tries to be, there are always some commonly used healing stones that don’t make the cut.

The second challenge to trying to memorize the properties of each crystal is that there is so much contradictory information out there. An internet search for any crystal will result in dozens of results, each with unique interpretations of crystal properties.

Now I’m a believer that there are no wrong channeled properties out there. We each have our own unique experience when working with crystals (hence all the conflicting info out there).

But there is a much easier way to navigate the world of crystals. This technique is great for crystal beginners and those that are growing their practice with crystals. When I was a total newbie, I used this technique all of the time in my crystal healing practice and my clients would rave about it!

The trick to simplifying crystal properties is to use a color-coding process. The colors of crystals are closely related to the rainbow system used in the chakras. If you are familiar with the properties of each chakra, you’ll have a good idea of what a crystal can do based on its color.
